Hussan Kodiyathur and his family still keep that reputation of the village, through his daughter Nadiya and son Shahad who achieved several state level awards in Mappila and Urdu songs.

Our society always gives prominence to the protection of orphans and destitute. Though we appreciate the intention of the organizers of orphanages and poor homes a truth remains there. In almost all orphanages the inmates are living with a sense of insecurity. They lack something which is essential for their growth and development. It was in this circumstance that the Islahiya Association cherished a desire of establishing an ideal orphanage, a real home for the orphans where they get Parental affections. In the year 1989 this noble dream was fulfilled. WADI RAHMAH [the valley of mercy] AL – ISLAH ORPHANAGE was established at Kodiyathur in the east of Kozhikode district.
