Kodiyathur Panchayath @ a glance

The erstwhile Kodiyathur Panchayath was formed under 1920 Madras Village Act. Pannicode Panchayath also came to exist according to this act.
Mr. K. M. Mohammed Haji was at helm of the First Kodiyathur Panchayath and Mr. V. M. Unnimoyi Sahib was his counterpart at Pannicode Panchayath. A.M Unnipokku haji, P. Unnipokku, Parayangattu Mohammed Haji, Kolakkadan Mohammed, C.K Ali and Kaladikunnath Unninagan were the other members of the First Kodiyathur Panchayath.

Following ‘Panchayath Unification Act’ in 1960, present manifestation of Kodiyathur Panchayath was formed in 1963, conglomerating Kodiyathur, Kakkad, Kumaranellur villages. Panchayath Election held in this year elected V. M. Unnimoyi as the President of the first unified Kodiyathur Panchayath.

കോഴിക്കോട്‌:കാലിക്കററ്‌ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിക്ക്‌ കീഴിലുള്ള കോളേജുകളിൽ നടന്ന യൂണിയന്‍ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ സ്ഥാനാർതികൾ തിളക്കമാർന്ന വിജയം നേടി. സർഗ്ഗാത്മക സംവാദങ്ങൾ കൊട്ടിയടച്ച്‌ കാമ്പസുകളിൽ ഏകധ്രുവ സാമ്രാജ്യങ്ങൾ സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നവർക്കെതിരെ ശക്തമായ പോരാട്ടത്തിലൂടെയാണ്‌ എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ പ്രവർത്തകർ വിജയം വരിച്ചത്‌. മൂന്ന്‌ കോളേജുകളി എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ ഒറ്റക്കും എച്ച്‌.എം കോളേജ്‌ മഞ്ചേരിയിൽ എം.എസ്‌.എഫ്, എസ്.ഐ.ഒ മുന്നണിയും യൂണിയന്‍ നേടുകയുണ്ടായി. കോഴിക്കോട്‌ ഫറോഖ്‌ കോളേജിൽ വൈസ്‌ ചെയർമാന്‍ സ്ഥാനം വിജയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ പുതിയ ചരിത്രമെഴുതി. കൂടാതെ പി.എസ്‌.എം.ഒ കോളേജ്‌ തിരൂരങ്ങാടി, യൂണിറ്റി കോളേജ്‌ മഞ്ചേരി എന്നിവിടങ്ങളി യു.യു.സി, വൈസ്‌ ചെയർമാൻ‍, ജോയിന്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി തുടങ്ങിയ ജനറൽ സീറ്റുകൾ എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. വിക്‌ടോറിയ കോളേജ്‌ പാലക്കാട്‌, ടി.എം ജി തിരൂർ എം.ഇ.എ.എസ്‌.എസ്‌ അരീക്കോട്‌, മജ്‌ലിസ്‌ പുറമണ്ണൂർ എം.ഇ.എസ്‌ വളാഞ്ചേരി, എം.എ.എം.ഒ മണാശ്ശേരി, ജാമിഅ നദ്‌വിയ എടവണ്ണ, ഫറോഖ്‌ കോളേജ്‌ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളായി നിരവധി അസോസിയേഷന്‍ സെക്രട്ടറിമാരും ക്ലാസ്‌ പ്രതിനിധികളും എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒവിനുണ്ട്‌.

കേരളീയ കാമ്പസുകളിൽ എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ ഉയത്തിയ മുദ്രാവാക്യങ്ങൾക്കും സമരങ്ങൾക്കുമുള്ള അംഗീകാരമാണ്‌ ഈ തിളക്കമാർന്ന വിജയമെന്നും വിജയിച്ച യൂണിയന്‍ ഭാരവാഹികൾ കാമ്പസുകളിൽ വിദ്യാർഥി-വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പുരോഗതിക്കാവശ്യമായ സർഗ്ഗത്മക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക്‌ നേതൃത്വം നൽകുമെന്നും എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ സംസ്ഥാന കാമ്പസ്‌ കണ്‍വീനർ കെ.എസ്‌ നിസാർ പറഞ്ഞു. എസ്‌.ഐ.ഒ ബാനറിലും മുന്നണിയിലും മത്സരിച്ച മുഴുവന്‍ സ്ഥാനാർഥികളെയും അദ്ദേഹം അഭിനന്ദിച്ചു

ABOUT KODIYATHUR

Kodiyathur was in part of Pannikkode amsham under ‘Pulavai Nattu Raja Vamsham’. History shows that Tippu Sulthan passed through this village from Vayanad to palakkad during his struggle against British. ‘Kodi kutthiya ooru’ (the place where flag is laid), that is Kodiyathur. Most of the flags from mainly thoughts, religious, sub-religious, political, cultural bodies… are positioned here from olden era itself. Even if Kodiyathur is splendid with different thoughts, the village has not been witnessed a communal riots or political assassin up to this date. The village has get into the national political history through Mohammed Abdurahiman sahib’s last speech and gain entry to the world religious map by Mubahala held at 1989. Kodiyathur has taken part with the national social activities by its protest against feudalism. And its religious education was in its full fledge mainly based on Kodiyathur Juma Masjid. Consorting to the collected information, Kodiyathur Juma masjid was built before 374 years ago (AD 1623). This is the village’s oldest historical monument.

How to reach Kodiyathur

Kodiyathur is finely connected with road from districts Kozhikode and Malappuram. From Kozhikode (Calicut) city, the availability of bus services are in full fledge through Mavoor – Cheruvadi and through Kunnamangalam – Mukkam. From Malappuram district, the main entrance to Kodiyathur is vie Nellikkaparambu through Areacode.

Kodiyathur Juma Masjid

According to an objective information, Kodiyathur Juma masjid was built 374 years ago (AD 1623). This information has been observed from a wooden piece which found during the re-constructing of front door of the Masjid. That renovation itself was after 52 years of masjid’s original construction. Some records show that Mr. Kunhi Asharee was the chief architect of Kodiyathur Juma Masjid and its excellent artisanship. In those olden period, the essential sections for Muslim community like priests, masjid assistants, khateeb, barbour, tailor etc were living around the Masjid compound. The major attraction of Kodiyathur Juma Masjid was its ‘Durs’ held along with masjid. This traditional Islamic curriculum method gave Kodiyathur a nick name ‘second Ponnani’ The masjid is now under a complete re-construction.

Mubahala

Seventeen years have passed since the historical “Muhabala” event took place at Kodiyathoor in Kozhikode district. The event that took place on May28th, 1989 was held between Anjuman Ishaeth-e-Islam, Kerala and the Ahmmadiya Jamaeth. Forty eminent and learned members comprising of 18 families from each group took to the stage built at the Baduvankutty ground, Koditathur. People thronged in thousands to view this historical event. Muhabala was a special prayer offered to Allah to enlighten them and to confirm  that what each group believed in  was the genuine truth and that incase their beliefs did not confirm to the genuine truth, Allah should not hesitate to destroy them immediately. The holy Quran mentions that Muhabala helps people reveal and identify truth. The Ishaeth members grouped themselves on the right side of the stage and the Ahammadiya members gathered on the left side. Both sides raised their hands imploring Allah to be kind enough to reveal the truth. This unique event attracted worldwide media publicity and was a result of the acceptance by the kerala Anjuman Ishaeth of the challenge thrown in by Ahammadiya Imam Mirza thahir ahammed from London.

Kodiyathur in Kerala history

Kerala had connections with Arabia from the time of Solomon. Arabs traded with Kerala for gold, ivory, monkeys and peacocks. Arab merchants came to Kerala from Egypt long before the Romans. Their main port was Alexandria and ours Kodungallore. Pre Khuran references to black pepper ,swords from India and teak in Arab poetry indicate trade connection to Kerala. It took about 30 to 40 days for Arabs to make the journey to Kerala. There were institutes attached to mosques in Ponnani, Thanoor, Thirurangadi, Parappanangadi, Nadapuram, Kodiyathur, Mahi, Vadakara and Payannur some 700 years ago.  In Kodiyathur, the studies were with related to the well known Kodiyathur Jum Masjid.

തേഞ്ഞിപ്പലം: കേരളത്തിലെ സര്‍കലാശാലകളെ എ.കെ.ജി സെന്ററുകളക്കാന്‍ നടത്തുന്ന  കുല്‍സിത ശ്രമങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് സി.പി.എം പിന്തിരിയണമെന്ന് എസ്.ഐ.ഒ സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി ശിഹാബ് പൂക്കോട്ടൂര്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. കാലിക്കറ്റ് സര്‍വകലാശാലയിലെ മാര്‍ക്‌സിറ്റ് ഭീകരവാഴ്ച്ചക്കെതിരെ നടന്നുവരുന്ന അനിശ്ചിതകാല റിലെ നിരാഹാര സത്യഗ്രഹത്തിന് അഭിവാദ്യമര്‍പ്പിച്ച് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. പാര്‍ട്ടിക്ക് ലെവി കൊടുക്കാത്തതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ അധ്യാപകരെ പുറത്താക്കാനുള്ള തീരുമാനം ജനാധിപത്യ വിരുദ്ധമാണ്. ജനാധിപത്യത്തെ പുറംതള്ളി ഏകാധിപത്യത്തെ സ്ഥാപിക്കാനാണ് ഇടതുപക്ഷ സിന്‍ഡിക്കേറ്റ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം കാടത്തങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരെ ജനകീയ സമരങ്ങള്‍ ശക്തിപ്പെടേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്നും വിജയംവരെ സമരത്തിന് പിന്തുണയുമായി എസ്.ഐ.ഒ ഒപ്പമുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

റിലെ നിരാഹാര സത്യഗ്രഹത്തിന് അഭിവാദ്യമര്‍പ്പിച്ച് നടന്ന പ്രകടനത്തിന് സംസ്ഥാന കാമ്പസ് കണ്‍വീനര്‍ കെ.എസ്. നിസാ‍ർ, കാമ്പസ് സമിതിയംഗങ്ങളായ ശറഫുദ്ദീന്‍ കൂട്ടിൽ, റബീഹ് മുഹമ്മദ്, അനസ് ഇരുമ്പുചോല എന്നിവര്‍ നേതൃത്വം നില്‍കി.

തെയ്യത്തും കടവ്‌ പാലം പണി അതിവേഗം നടന്നു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. പില്ലര്‍ കോണ്‍ക്രീറ്റ്‌ ജോലികള്‍ ഇന്നലെ ആരംഭിച്ചു. വര്‍ക്കിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗികോദ്ഘാടനം വാര്‍ഡ്‌ മെംബര്‍ ടി.കെ അബ്ദുറഹിമാന്‍ മെറ്റല്‍ മിക്സിംഗ്‌ യന്ത്രത്തിലേക്കിട്ടുകൊണ്ട്‌ നിരവഹിച്ചു. PWD അസിസ്റ്റന്റ്‌ എഞ്ചിനിയര്‍ മൊയ്ദീന്‍, സ്റ്റാഫ്‌ പ്രകാശന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു. പ്രദേശം യന്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ മുരള്‍ച്ച കൊണ്ട് മുഖരിതമാണിപ്പോള്‍. തെയ്യത്തും കടവ് ഭാഗത്ത് നിന്നാണ്‌ പില്ലറിന്റെ ജോലികള്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ബോറിങ് ജോലി കഴിഞ്ഞ ആഴ്ച് തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. അതിനിടക്ക്, യന്ത്ര ഭാഗം പൊട്ടി അല്പ സമയം ബോറിങ്ങ് തടസപെട്ടിരുന്നു. അടുത്ത ആഴച മുതല്‍ പുഴക്ക് നടുവില്‍ പില്ലര്‍ സ്ഥാപിക്കാനുള്ള പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുമെന്ന് സൈറ്റ് എഞ്ചിനിയര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു.

Acknowledgement of the Creator is the Motive of the Education: Deliberation at SIO’s National Workshop

The Students Islamic Organisation of India organised a two day national workshop on the theme “Islamic Philosophy of Knowledge and Education” on 2nd and 3rd October 2009 at the Islamic Center, Hyderabad.

The workshop began with Quranic Dars on the first 5 verses of Surah Al-Alaq by Mr. Abdur Rafiq, Secretary General, SIO of India. Mr. Suhail K.K., National President, SIO of India in light of SIO’s Policy and Programme opined the need of organising the workshop. He said SIO wants to make Islamic philosophy of education as a matter of discussion in our academic institute.

Presenting the keynote Address Dr. Badarul Islam, Former National Secretary of SIO, spoke on Islamic Philosophy of Education and pointed that Islam envisages every individual to question his identity and the reason why he has been created.

A detailed study on the ‘Analysis of Contemporary Education System’ were presented during the Panel Discussion presided by Dr. Mohammed Rafat, Zonal President, JIH, Delhi & Haryana. . Shanawaz Ali Raihan, National Secretary, SIO of India deliberated on the ‘History of Secularization of Society and its Impact on Education’.

The second day began with the lecture by Dr. Mohd. Rafat who spoke on Islamic Civilisation and spoke about the elevation and downfall of the Islamic Civilisation. Explaining the Pedagogy and Epistemology of Islamic education, Dr. Hifzur Rehman Principal, Sashibhushan Institute of Education, said the Ilm or knowledge is light that enlightens an individual.

Dr. Badarul Islam distinguished and presented the foundations and growth of western and Islamic education while speaking on the topic, ‘Islam & Modern Philosophies of Education’. He said the modern education system is based on trial and error.

Dr. Zaki Kirmani, Director Centre for studies on Science, Aligarh spoke on ‘Islam and Reconstruction of Science’, while Mr. Sadatullah Hussaini, Former National President SIO of India spoke on ‘Islam and Restructuring Social Studies’.
Mr. Ashraf Mohammedy, Managing Director, Idafa Investments Pvt. Ltd. deliberated and differentiated and also dealt with the impact of the modern economic system vis-a-vis Islamic economic system. Dr. Shafi Abdullah, Director Institute of Islamic Medical Science proclaimed that Prophet Muhammed (SAW) is the first scientist of marrow and enlightened the audience with the Prophetic medicines.

Be the founders of New Islamic Civilisation : A call at SIO National Seminar
Our aim should be to be founders and leaders of a new Islamic Civilisation said Br. Sadatullah Hussaini, Former National President, SIO of India at a half day seminar on the theme “Islamic Philosophy of Knowledge and Education” was organised on 4th October 2009 at Nehru Auditorium, Hyderabad.

Welcome address was delivered by SIO National Secretary Shahnawaz Ali Raihan.SIO President Suhail KK ask the country's student community to ponder over Islamic contribution in different branches of knowledge.Speaking at the occassion Dr. Mohd. Rafat, Professor at Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi said that we’ve great institutions and thus we need to make them centres of knowledge not just information providing centres. Prof. Saud Aleem Qasmi, Professor, AMU lamented that present education system may have provided degree holders and but could not provide good human neings who hold moral values. Dr. Zaki Kirmani, Director Centre for studies on Science, Aligarh, questioned the lethargic approach of muslims and the reason why the community is lagging behind in the various fields today. Dr. Badarul Islam speaking at the Seminar said that accountability is the basis and foundation of morality and the motive of education should be to know your creator.

SIO's New Publication wing White Dot
A book authored by Dr. Badaural Islam, titled ‘Ta’leem ki Akhlaqi Bunyaden’ was released at the hands of Dr. Mohd. Rafat, Zonal President, JIH, Delhi & Haryana and Professor at Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi. The book is published by White Dot Publishers, the new publication house of SIO of India. The book released on the occasion of seminar on the theme “Islamic Philosophy of Knowledge and Education” was organised on 4th October 2009 at Nehru Auditorium, Hyderabad.

ലൗ ജിഹാദെന്ന സാങ്കല്‍പിക -സംഘടനയുടെ പേരില്‍ കേരളീയ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ വര്‍ഗീയ വിഷം ചുരത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമത്തിനെതിരെ പൊതുസമൂഹം ജാഗ്രത പുലര്‍ത്തണമെന്ന് സാംസ്‌ക്കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ സംയുക്തപ്രസ്താവന ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. കലാലയങ്ങളില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന പ്രണയങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മതവര്‍ണം നല്‍കി സമുദായങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ പരസ്പര ഭീതിയും അവിശ്വാസവും വളര്‍ത്താനുള്ള ഫാഷിസ്റ്റ് നീക്കങ്ങളെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാന്‍ കേരളീയ സമൂഹം തയ്യാറാവണം. മതജാതി പരിഗണനകള്‍ക്കതീതമായി നടക്കുന്ന പ്രണയങ്ങളെയും പ്രണയവിവാഹങ്ങളെയും വര്‍ഗീയായുധമാക്കാനുള്ള നീക്കം കേരളത്തിന്റെ മതസൗഹാര്‍ദ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിനെതിരെയുള്ള വെല്ലുവിളിയാണ്. വ്യക്തികളുടെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശത്തെപോലും ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഫാഷിസ്റ്റ് മനോഘടനയാണ് ഇത്തരം വിവാദങ്ങളെ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്. സ്വന്തം ജീവിതത്തെ നിര്‍ണയിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കാത്ത നിഷ്‌ക്രിയ സ്വത്വമാണ് സ്ത്രീകളുടേതെന്ന ഫ്യൂഡല്‍ പുരുഷ യുക്തിയാണ് ഈ പ്രചരണങ്ങളില്‍ മുഴച്ചുകാണുന്നത്. വസ്തുതകളുടെ പിന്‍ബലമില്ലാത്ത ലൗ ജിഹാദിനെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രചാരണങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റുപിടിക്കുന്ന മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെയും സാമുദായിക സംഘടനകളുടെയും നിലപാട് തിരുത്തപ്പെടേണ്ടതാണ്. ലൗ ജിഹാദ് വിവാദത്തിന്റെ പിറകിലെ രാഷ്ട്രീയം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ് പ്രതിരോധിക്കുവാന്‍ സാംസ്‌കാരിക കേരളം ആര്‍ജവം കാണിക്കണമെന്നും പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
